Shimla: To give fillip to tourism development in Himachal , the Government has launched a novel scheme “Har Gaon Ki Kahani” with a motive to bring diversification in tourism sector and ensure longer duration stay of tourists visiting Himachal Pradesh. This was disclosed by an official Spokesman of Himachal Pradesh Tourism Department here today.

He said that the main purpose to launch this ambitious scheme was to develop tourists villages in Himachal and ensure all facilities to the tourists, throughout the year.

He said that the visitors would be apprised with the history of village, its culture, the delicacies, customs and traditions through a document containing all the valuable information of the villages.

The village legends and stories which are associated since time immemorial with the villages, would be documented. Such legends or stories would be invited through Panchayats, representatives or any other persons hailing from that village can also submit it to the office of Deputy Commissioner and in office of District Tourism Officers.

He said that the village having interesting legends attached to them would be developed as ‘Tourists Village’, and overall development of the village would be ensured under MNREGA. A committee would be constituted under Deputy Commissioners for successful implementation of this scheme at District-level, said the Spokesman.
